Our Tour to Maras – Moray – Chinchero will take you to the Sacred Valley, located between Cusco and Machu Picchu, this valley is known for its lush landscape, its picturesque colonial cities and its magnificent Inca fortress. Discover with us this beautiful and charming historical place where we will visit the enigmatic archaeological site of Moray, where the Incas experimented and acclimatized new crops using different heights in a terrace system. Then we will visit the Maras salt deposits, where water springs from these high-altitude mountains and falls down the side of the mountain in individual evaporation pools, forming layers of salt that are extracted and then distributed to the high-Andean communities.

We will pick you up from your hotel around 8am, to go to Moray. The trip is absolutely beautiful with a duration of more or less 1 hour and 20 minutes. You will be driven through the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, lush yellow fields of wheat, passing picturesque villages.

Finally you will arrive at a fascinating exhibition of terraces (cultivation terraces) in Moray. Moray has 3 systems of cultivation terraces as an amphitheater made by the Incas. These platforms, which are carved deep into the earth in the shape of a bowl, are believed to have been used to determine the optimal conditions for growing different products.

After exploring Moray, we will descend a bit to the Maras salt mines located about 2 kilometers away, an important production center that dates back to pre-Inca times. Here we will find more than 3,000 salt wells wedged along the mountainside, which are filled daily by water that seeps into the ground.

The last place we will visit is Chinchero, here we will admire the very well preserved Inca walls in the main square as well as many altars. We will also visit the beautiful colonial church, unique for its works of art and imagery. Continuing, we will participate in a wonderful introduction to the art of Andean fabrics; Throughout the afternoon we will get acquainted with the wisdom of the Andean tissues, as they are maintained long before Inca times .

If you want to see something completely different, or more than just archaeological sites, this tour is for you! The area is surprisingly beautiful. Once you have finished your visit, you will return to the city to enjoy lunch on your own.
