Tour Maras Moray

During this tour we will observe the Vilcanota Mountain Range and its impressive snow- capped mountains that extend throughout the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will visit the following places: Maras Town where the houses still preserve their colonial facades , the Moray Archaeological Complex made up of several circular platforms that served as an agricultural laboratory in Inca times and finally we will appreciate the Maras Salt Mines; conformed by hundreds of small pools of salty water and from where at present the members of the community still produce Salt.
We will start the trip at approximately 8:30 am picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. By tourist bus we will go to the Urubamba Valley, during the journey we will be able to observe the magnificent Nevado de Chicón.
Our first point of visit will be the picturesque town of Maras, where the houses still retain their colonial facades and have a beautiful church. Then we will go to the Moray Archaeological Complex, which has a system of circular terraces or agricultural terraces, which served as an Inca agricultural laboratory, to experiment with their new crops.
Finally we will visit the Salineras ‘natural salt wells’, which are platforms formed by hundreds of white wells that can be observed from a distance as if it were snow. In colonial times it became the first salt-producing center in the southern highlands. They were used for thousands of years and even long before the Inca Empire.
We will be back in the city of Cusco approximately at 14:30 hrs.
